AVG Technologies has signed a deal with Samsung to offer the AVG AntiVirus Pro for Android app free to UK Samsung handset owners via the Samsung Apps store.
Available to any Samsung smart device, ranging from the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 to the Samsung Galaxy S3 flagship smartphone, the partnership will save users the £9.49 price offered by the Google Play store for the AVG protection.
The premium app provides malware, virus and spyware protection for the Android OS, performing web address checks in real time to ensure safe browsing on smart devices.

AVG AntiVirus Pro for Android Features
The AVG AntiVirus Pro for Android app protects Android devices by actively checking web address in real time with the integrated AVG LinkScanner, alerting the user to potentially malicious websites.
For increased mobile safety, the AVG protection offers an App Scanner to help guarantee that your device is free from malware, with scans either ran manually or the user can program it to sweep the handset automatically on a day-to-day or weekly basis.
The File Scanner also scans for any malware, spyware and viruses, allowing the user to remove any malicious files with a simple tap of the smart device’s screen. Thus the precious data within the device, like contacts, emails and photographs, remain safe whilst using apps or surfing the internet. Like the App Scanner the user can set up automatic scans or chose to run them manually.
Another feature of the AVG AntiVirus Pro app is the App Locker, enabling users to lock certain apps, blocking other users from accessing them. A useful tool for a parent wanting to prevent their children from opening unsuitable or personal apps.
AVG AntiVirus Pro for Android will available to download free from the Samsung Apps store from March 6. Anyone not wielding a Samsung branded device can purchase the AVG premium protection from the Google Play store for the one time price of £9.49.
