In case you hadn’t heard, beloved songstress Adele has a new song out for the first time in ages and loads of people really like it.
However, in the four years the red-headed Londoner has been absent from the charts, the landscape has overwhelmingly shifted from downloads to streaming.
Not that fans of Adele and her new track “Hello” appear to have paid much attention to the shift in listening habits.
According to the industry bible, ‘Hello’ shifted 1,112,000 digital copies in a single week.
That absolutely obliterates the previous mark set by Flo Rida - of all people - who sold 636,000 copies of ‘Right Round’ back in 2009.
Elsewhere it’s revealed that ‘Hello’ notched up a monumental 61.6 million streams in its first week.
That’s second in the all time list to that Harlem Shake monstrosity, so Adele is in fine company.
Billboard also notes 'Hello' is only the 24th song to debut at No.1 in its illustrious chart.
