From a distance the X340 looks like a tempting proposition, but closer inspection quickly reveals several serious flaws. Its build quality and feel are lacklustre and simply don't justify the premium MSI clearly hopes to demand for its svelte new baby. This leaves a slightly overpriced and underperforming laptop that, while competent, lacks the spit and polish necessary to recommend it.

Excellent review and I wholly agree with it having had the loan of an X340 for several days now on the outside it turns heads and everyone wants to look, but start using it and it falls down. The plastic feels hollow and it's really not that really worth £750 unless you live by style alone.
Can you please comment on the performace of the Core 2 Solo SU3500 in regards to playing BBC iPlayer HD streams, and also Youtube HD videos. Do they play ok? This is the only thing holding me back from getting one of these, that is the only question left I need answering.
