Like the J10, the J12 is an incredibly simple camera with a very basic specification. It has a 1/2.5-inch 8.2MP sensor, a 3x zoom lens with a focal length range equivalent to 38-113mm, and a rather small (by current standards) 2.5-inch LCD monitor with a fairly restricted viewing angle and a resolution of only 114k dots. It has none of the advanced features that we've come to take for granted, such as image stabilisation, contrast enhancement or face detection, or even basic things like a choice of metering modes or autofocus options. It practically goes without saying that of course it has no manual exposure or focusing functions.

User control is limited to a few simple menu options, including white balance, ISO setting, exposure compensation and burst mode. It doesn't even have a proper continuous shooting mode, offering instead a simple three-shot burst. However at least the menu system and the D-pad used to navigate it are less fiddly than on the previous model, and operate smoothly.

There's not much else I can say about this camera that wasn't already covered in my review of the J10. The zoom control is still a rocker switch and is still stepped, with six increments between minimum and maximum. Like most recent Fujifilm cameras it has a multi-purpose card slot that can take SD/SDHC as well as xD-Picture cards.

Don't buy a fujifilm!!! They do not honour their warranty!! I recently bought a J12 and the flash stopped working and they vioded the warranty. They said that there was a dent on the corner (that was not there when I sent it) and that the packaging was not damaged when they received it. Now it is going to cost me $25.00 to get the camera back (already paid $10 to ship it as fragile) just to see what 'damage' they are talking about. Still waiting for the pictures of the damage that hey promised. They now offer a 2 year warranty but really don't intended on honouring. I will never buy another fujifilm product!

Had the exact same problem you had. When discussing this problem with collegues at work, I was shocked to learn that 2 other people had this exact experience. I guess fujifilm discovered a loophole (lies, lies, lies) to not honour their crappy products. BEWARE OF FUJIFILM. Their products are defective and they will not honour the warranty. That is their guarantee

I love this camera. I got it a year ago and it's still pretty good. The focus isn't that bad, and there are quite a lot of different modes and stuff. It's very simple. I suppose I am only 14 and I don't use it for proffesional use or anything, but its really great for just taking snaps of friends or outings or whatever. I would recommend you buy this camera if you are just going to use it for like normal but not proffesional photos, and maybe it is suited for a younger audience as it is very simple to use. I have had it for a year now and it's stioll great, i've had no problems with it apart from when it got wet in the rain and I had to soak it in rice :/ but yeh.
