Key Specifications

The Nikon Coolpix L830 incorporates a 34x optical zoom lens with a 35mm equivalent focal range of 22.5mm-765mm. The zoom range is digitally extendable to 68x with Nikon’s Dynamic Fine Zoom technology, which the firm says will ensure minimal loss in resolution.

Equipped also with a 16MP backside illuminated CMOS sensor, the Coolpix L830 is able to minimise camera shake even at the extreme end of its focal length thanks to the inclusion of Nikon’s Lens-shift Vibration Reduction.

This extends to video recording, with Nikon’s 5-axis vibration reduction compensating for camera tilt in all directions. The Coolpix L830 records 1920 x 1080/60i movies.

The design of the L-series has been refined slightly for the L830, with an improved grip and reshaped shutter release button. The L830 is equipped with a tilting 3-inch LCD screen with approximately 921,000 dots of resolution.

Designed to accommodate the entry-level photographer, the Coolpix L830 includes Easy Auto Mode and Smart Portrait System, intelligent features capable of analysing scenes for the best settings. Eighteen scene modes and a multitude of special effects round out the package.

The Coolpix L830 can be powered by regular AA batteries – easily replaced while out and about. It is available in black, red and plum, and will be out in February with a US SRP of $299.95.
