What is the Dell C2660dn?
The colour laser sector of the printer market continues to grow and Dell is aiming to pick up a good chunk of that. The C2660dn is an office machine with fast networking provision, intended for a workgroup or small office which needs colour print, as well as mono pages.

Dell C2660dn – Design and Features
This is a big machine, made more megalithic by its jet-black Dell livery. The top surface has an indent for the output paper tray, which is also raised slightly at the front. To the left of this is a backlit, four-line LCD display, with the usual control keys and a numeric pad.
The number pad is for Dell’s Secure Print facility, where you can send confidential documents to the printer and only release them for printing when you enter a PIN at the pad.

The front panel has a 250-sheet paper tray at the bottom, with an unusually high capacity, 150-sheet multi-purpose tray folding out above this. An extra 550-sheet tray is available as an option, giving a 950-sheet maximum.
Dell C2660dn – Connections and Installation
At the back are sockets for USB and an unusually quick Gigabit Ethernet network connection. Although there’s no wireless connection, the printer is capable of taking jobs from mobile devices, if they’re sent via AirPrint, Google Cloud Print or Dell’s own Mobile Print.
When you pull down the front cover, you reveal four, tiered toner cartridges, which are very easy to fit or replace. The drum units are accessed behind a panel on the right-hand side, but not before removing the waste toner bottle, and flicking a fair amount of used toner onto the cover. There’s also a fuser unit and a maintenance pack to be fitted periodically, but since that period is 100,000 pages, you may not reach it during the life of the C2660dn.
Software provided with the printer includes network-compatible configuration and management tools and toner management, so you can be forewarned of low levels and the need to restock. Postscript 3 and PCL 6 page description languages are included as standard.
