Dave Mustaine, as all metal fans will know, is the main songwriter, guitarist and singer for Megadeth and was also once upon a time a member of Metallica. In this app, Mr. Mustaine tells you how to play different parts of three of Megadeth’s biggest hits – Public Enemy No 1, Tornado of Souls and Holy Wars. The lessons use a Guitar Hero type scrolling display, but rather than encouraging you to hit plastic buttons, it displays the different notes you need to fret on your guitar.

You can plug electric guitars directly into your iOS device to play along (or use the mic with acoustic guitars), slow down individual section and even use the in-app tuner to tune your guitar. All in all, it offers a pretty good level of tuition, although it’s easiest to use on the iPad.

Verdict

It’s a little bit pricey, but this app more than makes up for it with some great features and easy-to-follow guitar tuition.
