  • Excellent protection, superb materials used, comfortable and practical

  • high price, on the small side for lots of photo kit

Key Specifications

  • Review Price: £160.00

Better known for specialising in laptop bags and genuine leather folios for iPads, manufacturer Booq has recently produced a series of stylish camera bags. The Python courier shoulder bag is designed to protect a large DSLR with lens attached and up to four additional lenses.

Opening the bag is a case of unfastening two buckles. The deep internal compartment benefits from extremely rigid, padded dividers from beside which are two additional dividers to protect lenses that are stored on top of each other. Smaller sized DSLR’s and prime lenses are best suited, but as we found it’s possible to squeeze a 70-200mm f/2.8 telephoto zoom alongside an enthusiast D-SLR with standard zoom attached.

The outside dimensions are 394x267x152mm, turning it into a great general-purpose messenger bag when the internal dividers are stripped out and the shoulder strap is made from a similar nylon material that’s used to make car seat belts. The broad shoulder pad distributes weight superbly across the shoulder, a criss-cross pattern of non-slip material glues it to your shoulder on the move and ballistic nylon is used as the material for the exterior of the bag. Thick, well finished and ultra durable, it contributes to the bags high-end feel.

For tablet users there’s a dedicated sizeable pocket at the rear with a waterproof zipper to prevent inclement weather reaching your kit and if we were to sum up the Booq Python courier, it’s rather pricey at £160, however it’s built to last, is superbly made and provides more than adequate protection for gear.
