ZTE Launching Dual-Core Premium Handset Next Month

At the UK launch of the ZTE Tania tonight, the Chinese company revealed to TrustedReviews that it would be unveiling four new handsets at Mobile World Congress (MWC) next month, one of which will be a premium dual-core smartphone.

Santiago Sierra, Portfolio Manager for ZTE UK, said that the new flagship handset would retain the 4.3in screen seen on the ZTE Skate (aka the Orange Monte Carlo), as the company sees anything above this size as just too big.
Sierra added that the Android-powered phone would feel like other high-end smartphones and would use premium material to achieve this.

When asked if all four new phones to be revealed at MWC would run Android, Sierra pointedly said: “No.” While he didn’t expand on the point, we reckon it’s a safe assumption to say that at least one of the new phones would be running Windows Phone 7.

Looking at the current WP7 handset, the ZTE Tania, official pricing has yet to be announced although online retailer Clove has listed the handset for sale at £250.

ZTE did reveal that the phone would be available directly from Brightpoint, Go Mobile and on contracts of between £10 and £20 from Virgin Mobile.
