ZTE Blade V9 First Look: What’s it like?

The Blade V9 seems like a nice mid-range device that’s bound to impress. Durable glass takes pride of place on the front and back, with a strengthened aluminium frame holding everything in place on the side. I mean, what more could you ask from a smartphone that’s set to cost less than £300?

There’s a 5.7-inch Full HD 18:9 screen mounted on the front that’s somewhat pleasant to look at. Colours are rich and the maximum brightness is respectable – but it’s nothing to write home about, so much so that I was left more impressed by the more pixel-dense 5.7-inch Full HD+ 18:9 panel on the cheaper STK X2.

It’s worth touching on performance, even though what I experienced might not be on par with what you’d get in the real world, as this device was running demo firmware. The handset felt responsive, opening applications within a mere second or two. It also remained composed while switching between multiple intensive applications, like Asphalt 8: Airborne.

Much to my dismay, I didn’t have a chance to try out the rear- or front-facing camera. I was also unable to assess the performance of the fingerprint reader (mounted on the back). But you can bet your bottom dollar that a member of the Trusted Reviews team will put both through their paces for our comprehensive review.
