A video of a taling dog, which has racked up almost 75 million views worldwide, was the most viewed clip on YouTube in the UK over the last 12 months.
Ultimate Dog Tease has beaten off competition from the likes of a spoof Royal wedding advert, a couple of babies discussing the important things in life and a cartoon cat with the body of a Pop-Tart flying through space backed by a Japanese pop song.
The annual list highlights just what has captured the imagination of internet users across the UK. “The 10 most-watched YouTube videos of 2011 show that around the world, whatever language we speak, there are certain things that bring us together around a computer screen or mobile phone,” said the site’s trend manager, Kevin Allocca.
Of course no list of 2011 would be complete without a mention of Charlie Sheen and the Two-and-a-Half Men star duly makes an appearance at three on the list with a video called: Songify This – Winning, which is a series of interviews with the actor edited together for comedic value.
Our favourite however has to be Masterchef Synesthesia, which is the mash-up of Masterchef presenters John Torode and Greg Wallace with dance music by Swede Mason which is sixth on the list with almost four million views.
