Yooka-Laylee finally has a release date for Nintendo Switch
Playtonic Games has confirmed that nostalgic platformer Yooka-Laylee will be coming to Nintendo Switch on December 14.
Having previously released for PS4, Xbox One and PC, the crowdfunded title was originally set to launch for Nintendo Wii U. However, development shifted to Switch shortly after its release.
We imagine the hybrid console will be incredibly popular over the festive period, although time will tell whether Yooka-Laylee has the chops to compete with Super Mario Odyssey.

Yooka-Laylee began life as a Kickstarter campaign, pitched as a project from the minds behind Banjo Kazooie and a welcome homage to the early era of 3D platformers.
It delivered, although may have been held back somewhat by its archaic inspiration. Here’s what Games Editor Brett Phipps had to say in his 5/10 review:
‘Yooka-Laylee is a nostalgic old-school adventure, but it’s too retro for its own good. Frustrating game mechanics, annoying boss fights and the complete lack of guidance become infuriating as the game progresses.’
