Xiaomi’s next phone will be absolutely enormous

Xiaomi is expected to unveil several new products at its May 10 event, and one of them is set to be massive.

The Xiaomi Mi Max has been confirmed by China’s TENAA – the local equivalent of the USA’s FCC – which means it definitely exists. That certification process means images of the phone have also entered the public domain.

But what’s most exciting (or terrifying) about the Xiaomi Mi Max is its ludicrous 6.4-inch Full HD display. That makes the 5.7-inch Galaxy Note 5 sound like a phone for toddlers and hobbits.

Check it out:

Here are the the Xiaomi Mi Max specs that we’re expecting:

  • 6.44-inch Full HD IPS display
  • Hexa-core Snapdragon 650 64-bit processor
  • Adreno 510 GPU
  • 2GB RAM & 16GB storage/3GB RAM & 32GB storage
  • Expandable memory with microSD
  • Android 6.0 Marshmallow (skinned with MIUI 8)
  • Dual-SIM
  • 16-megapixel rear-facing camera with dual-tone LED flash
  • 5-megapixel front-facing camera
  • Fingerprint sensor
  • 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS support
  • 4,500mAh battery

TechUpdate reports that the phone will price at 1,299 yuan, which – at current rates – is equivalent to around £140 or $200. Unfortunately, it’s not yet clear where Xiaomi plans to sell the phone – don’t hold your breath, UK buyers.

In any case, don’t forget that Xiaomi hasn’t officially released any details about the Xiaomi Mi Max yet, so take this report – and any reports prior to official launch, for that matter – with due caution.
