Xiaomi Mi4i debuted with super mid range specs

Xiaomi has unveiled its latest flagship handset, with the Xiaomi Mi4i lining up as a new super mid-market offering.
Pairing a Full HD display with impressive camera tech, the Xiaomi Mi4i is the company’s first handset to run Google’s latest Android 5.0 Lollipop mobile operating system direct from the box.
“The Mi4i has great features,” Xiaomi’s Vice President Hugo Barra said.
Xiaomi Mi4i Features
Set to rival the likes of the Huawei P8 and the Honor 6+, the Xiaomi Mi4i runs Qualcomm’s octa-core, 64-bit Snapdragon 615. The chip is built around bigLITTLE architecture to offer oodles of power while managing battery life.
In terms of battery life, the Mi4i should offer more than enough power thanks to a sizeable 3120mAh battery. This oversized juice pack has been slotted in thanks to some clever internal styling.
“We care as much about the interior design of the phone as much as the exterior,” Barra stated.
“
Featuring a 5-inch, 1080p display, the Mi4i boasts a 441 pixels-per-inch image density and Corning Gorilla Glass coated panel.
Crafted with a polycarbonate (read plastic) unibody design, the handset lines up at 7.8mm thick and just 130g in weight.
In terms of imagery, Xiaomi’s latest mobile runs a 13-megapixel primary, dual LED flash enhanced camera alongside a secondary, 5-megapixel, f/1.8 shooter for selfie lovers.
Bigging up the company’s imaging abilities, Barra stated: “Xiaomi has a big tradition in photography.
“Our approach to mobile photography is to take top of the line hardware and combine it with great software.”
On the software side, the manufacturer has added a ‘Beatify’ mode for smoothing out those wrinkles and blemishes.
Powered by Android 5.0, the Mi4i runs the Chinese manufacturer’s latest MiUI 6 interface.
“As is standard with all our flagship devices, there is dual micro SIM support,” Barra stated. “2G, 3G and 4G is supported in both SIM slots,” Barra concluded.
Xiaomi Mi4i Release Date and Price
As you might expect given Xiaomi’s lack of European presence, there is currently no plans to bring the Mi4i to the UK.
In India, the handset will set wannabe owners back 12999 Rupees (£137).
