XCOM 2 is out today, and will natively support the Steam controller

Firaxis Games has been working with Valve to bring native Steam controller support to XCOM 2.
HAPPY XCOM 2 DAY! The highly anticipated turn-based sequel is now available on PC, and support for the Steam controller is built in.
Firaxis Games has announced it has been working with Valve to bring controller support to XCOM 2. The feature is available at launch (today), and can be accessed by anyone with a Steam controller.
Unfortunately, no other controllers currently work with the game. So it seems owners of Xbox and Playstation pads are out of luck for now.
The developer is yet to confirm support for other pads, but fans will likely enable support in the coming weeks.

Firaxis has released an official config explaining exactly what you can do with Valve’s controller:
- Use a different control scheme based on the in-game situation
- Experience precise and responsive 1:1 camera controls using the touchpads in the Geoscape and the Tactical view
- Instantly select your ability with the flexibility of the controller’s Touch Menus
A new bundle containing a copy of XCOM 2 and a Steam controller is also available on Steam. It’ll cost you £55, which is a sweet deal when the base game is going for £34.99 on its own.
