The latest Xbox One update readies the console for Windows 10 game streaming and backwards compatibility.
Microsoft has released a new software update for the Xbox One, applying some subtle background changes to the system in preparation for the launch of Windows 10.
The tweak is also said to enhance the backwards compatibility feature announced at E3 2015 and that is currently available to Xbox One Preview Program Members.
Microsoft have confirmed that this update contains “no user-facing features” and that the company is committed to the UI overhaul that will be arriving later this year.

Since the launch of the Xbox One, Microsoft has shown a committed attitude towards integrating Windows 10 with the console.
This is in part so that users find it easier to access content across a range of devices: streaming games and sharing libraries on multiple platforms, for example.
Xbox One titles such as Killer Instinct and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition are also coming to Windows 10, Spencer confirmed at E3 earlier this year.
Shared game libraries appear to be a frequent component of Microsoft’s vision for the future, so we could well see titles such as Halo and Forza Motorsport sneaking onto the PC sooner than we think.
Windows 10 is set to release worldwide on 29 July. For the first 12 months following its release, users running Windows 7 and 8 will be offered a free upgrade to the OS.
The operating system will also ship with a preinstalled Xbox gaming app, allowing cross-platform play for specific titles, beginning with the upcoming Fable Legends.
Microsoft has made similar promises about PC gaming before, so hopefully the company is more committed this time round.
