Xbox One Twitch broadcasts top 23 million minutes already

Xbox One users have already uploaded 23 million minutes of gameplay footage since the app was launched at the beginning of March.

Twitch arrived as a dedicated Xbox One app on March 10 and users have taken to it with great enthusiasm. Over 23 million minutes have already been broadcasted using Twitch and that includes 2.7 million minutes broadcast during the first two days alone.

“We have always considered enabling live streaming directly from consoles to be a key step in unlocking the ability for all gamers to share their experiences,” said Emmett Shear, Founder and CEO of Twitch. “Yet we never imaged the popularity would spread as fast as it has. Microsoft has really helped drive this expansion, and the great system architecture of Xbox One has allowed us to build a really great broadcasting experience with a robust feature set.”

“We’re all very excited about working with Microsoft to continue rolling out new features on the platform.”

Twitch states that Titanfall is the most broadcast game on the Xbox One, with you lot streaming more than 10 million minutes so far.

Overall, Microsoft has seen the average Xbox Live member spend a daily average of 5 hours on their Xbox One, with Twitch a major contributor to the increase in Xbox One use.

Microsoft has also announced that you can now start watching a rented or purchased movie on Xbox Video and then continue watching it on a Windows Phone device or via Continuous playback for other devices is apparently “coming soon.”

Plus there are some updates to the Xbox One SmartGlass app inbound to “make it easier for anyone around the world to navigate Xbox One experiences.”

New features include the quick access to Achievements, challenges and game clips, the ability to view the players you’ve recently played with and challenge them for a rematch. You can also add them to your friends list.

The friends list can be sorted by their online status using SmartGlass now and you can expect the same Activity Feed as presented on the Xbox One to appear on the app.

You can also launch an app in Snap mode directly from your Xbox SmartGlass app, or unsnap it when you’re done.

Microsoft has also enabled Xbox Live message notifications using SmartGlass, so you don’t miss a gaming session.
