Xbox One system update rolled out to address bugs

A new Xbox One system update has been rolled out, with the next-gen console benefitting from a number of bug fixes.

Addressing a range of glitches with the recently launched PS4 rival, the Xbox One system update sees a number of “multiplayer issues” address as well as improving the console’s “system update services.”

With Microsoft suggesting the latest Xbox One system update will take between two and five minutes to install, the company has confirmed that the console will automatically download the patch whilst in standby mode. The software refresh will then be installed the next time the console is powered up.

Proving a fix for common wireless networking issues that has seen users struggle with connectivity issues, Microsoft has revealed that the Xbox One system update will also address SmartGlass issues, erratic dashboard performances and inconsistent notifications.

Not resting on its laurels, Microsoft has been keen to confirm that it is already working on future Xbox One system updates to respond to the most common consumer gripes.

“We’ve got quite a few updates planned for the next year based on the community feedback we’ve been seeing,”  Larry Hyrb, Microsoft’s Director of Xbox Live (aka Major Nelson) stated.

The Xbox One launched in the UK back on November 22, one week before the rival PS4 hit British retailers.

Although opening weekend Xbox One sales saw some 160,000 units shifted in the UK, the Microsoft-branded console has been outsold by its lead rival. Becoming a record-breaker, early PS4 sales topped a quarter of a million units.
