Microsoft has explained the Xbox One release date delays in eight of the 21 countries originally scheduled for a November arrival.
Eight European countries saw their Xbox One release date delayed until 2014, with the UK managing to avoid the postponement.
Speaking on NeoGAF, Microsoft’s Director of Marketing Albert Penello, gave further details as to why the Xbox One won’t make it to all 21 countries as originally promised.
Penello still advised consumers to wait for their own region-specific console launch, but he did reiterate that Xbox One games will be region-free first.
“Second – The console will work everywhere (keeping in mind power supplies),” he then added.
This would mean that the Xbox One will work in any country, but obviously Microsoft wouldn’t be able to guarantee there wouldn’t be issues with adaptability issues.
“You can use one of the 13 digital marketplaces corresponding to our launch markets, assuming you have a valid payment instrument for those countries.”
Microsoft announced the Xbox One release date delays earlier this week, revealing that Switzerland, the Netherlands, Norway, Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Russia won’t get Microsoft’s next-gen console until early 2014.
“While we wish we could launch Xbox One simultaneously in these markets, there are many factors that determine the timing of specific market launches,” said the Xbox Wire post. “We understand this will be disappointing news for our fans in the impacted countries, and we are doing everything we can to bring Xbox One to you as soon as possible next year.”
Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Spain, the UK, US and New Zealand are still on track for the original Xbox One release date in November.
“Our priority is ensuring customers get the best Xbox One experience the first day it is available,” added Microsoft.
