Xbox One gamers can now record clips directly from SmartGlass app

Microsoft has issued an update for its second screen SmartGlass companion tool, giving users the opportunity to record Xbox One gaming footage directly from the app.

The update rolled out for for Windows Phone, iOS and Android devices on Thursday afternoon.

The new ability to record footage directly from the app will make life easier for gamers who don’t have a Kinect sensor and hence aren’t able to issue voice commands.

Elsewhere, there’s the ability to post and share News Feed updates, see the activity feed on a profile page and view messages in a new conversations view.

There’s also an in-app display of release and feature notes, while the TV and OneGuide features have expanded to new markets.

The new features join the existing ability to use the app to navigate around the Xbox One, control the on-screen media and browse the web on the television.

Of course, there’s also the ability for gamers and viewers to enhance what they’re playing or watching with additional information on the second screen.

Xbox One owners can also search, browse and pin content to the console, as well as track their achievements, message friends, get help with games and watch their previously uploaded game clips as well as those of others.
