Xbox One dashboard demoed in new 12-minute video

Microsoft has released a 12-minute long video showing off the new Xbox One dashboard and its new features.

Yusuf Mehdi, Chief Marketing and Strategy Officer at Xbox and Marc Whitten, Corporate Vice President walk through the Xbox One dashboard in a 12-minute long live presentation.

“Marc Whitten and Yusuf Mehdi walk through a comprehensive demo of Xbox One, including instant switching, biometric sign-in, Live TV, Skype, game DVR, OneGuide and more”, reads the official blurb.

They first demonstrate how easily the Xbox One Kinect recognises both of them as they enter the room, logging them in to their separate Xbox accounts. You’ll be able to customise the colour of your homescreen and the tiles around the currently playing content are specific to your Xbox One habits.

To the left of the main screen are your Pins section, which features all the content you’ve selected to put there from Netflix and Skype to movies and games. Your personal choices are stored in the Cloud, so it can be transferred onto any Xbox One you happen to be playing on.

Mehdi and Whitten also show off the Instant Switching functionality of the Xbox One, using Kinect or the controller to quick move between the various content on your next-gen console.

Game and other software notifications will appear whatever you’re doing on the Xbox One, even when you’re watching TV.

Skype with the Xbox One Kinect also gets a showcase, with the 1080p HD video capture and software controlled widescreen and body tracking.

Whitten also demos the Xbox One game DVR and the Upload Studio. Using the latter, you can edit your captured game clips, add narration, skins and other customisation options.

The Xbox guys also remind you that Xbox One GamerPics are now Full 1080p HD resolution and there are new achievement types to unlock too.

Mehdi finishes the demo by showing off the One Guide – a new TV guide that integrates your TV content into the Xbox One UI with voice control options as well. You can also add your own channels and apps to the One Guide to create a personalised TV experience.
