Xbox Gamescom 2014 Live Stream: How to watch the Microsoft event
Microsoft’s Xbox-themed Gamescom 2014 press conference will be held this afternoon, August 12, at 1pm BST and you’ll be able to watch it, assuming you have your console to hand that is.
Microsoft has confirmed that although eager gamers can follow the conference via a free-to-view live stream, to do so they must watch from a Microsoft branded device or through the company’s own services.
While Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners will be able to access the Microsoft Gamescom live stream through a link on their console’s dashboard, Windows Phone handset owners will also be able to access the stream.
Turning its back on the likes of YouTube, those without access to a Microsoft device can head over to the Xbox website, where the live stream will also be available.
Microsoft has promised more details on Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Quantum Break during its Gamescom conference. Although we don’t expect any further details on Halo 5 to be revealed, keep an eye out for more Forza Horizon 2 and Sunset Overdrive talk.
Earlier today Xbox boss Phil Spencer teased that the conference would bring some ‘nice surprises’ for gamers.
“Last rehearsal for #xboxgamescom 2014 almost done. Show looks great, some nice surprises and great on stage demos. Should be fun,” he wrote on Twitter.
