It certainly seems that way.
Following on from the rumours circulating around a couple of months ago (which were to an extent confirmed by Microsoft), more information about the Xbox 360’s forthcoming Dashboard update has surfaced, this time from Microsoft itself – with a little help from Harmonix and Rock Band 2. If adverts spotted in Rock Band 2 are to be believed, a new “Xbox Experience” is set to arrive in November.
It’s possible that the Xbox Experience isn’t a Dashboard update at all, but Microsoft promised the refresh in “Fall” and November is the last month of that season so the writing is pretty much on the (s)Dashboard(/s) wall. Who knows, we may even see that that 3D, motion-sensitive Dashboard rumoured previously. Although simply a slicker menu system that stands up to comparison with the PS3’s XMB would be good.
Interface aside, the update is also expected to bring features such as Avatars, some new output resolution options and the ability to install games to the Xbox’s hard drive. The latter will be particularly welcome as it should see much quieter operation of the console.
