The second generation Xbox 360 line up is looking incredibly strong.
For all its hype and importance high definition media is not really at the heart of X06, ”games are” and there is nothing more a company loves than talking about exclusives, especially when they are this good…
We’ll skip all the Halo news for now since that will be receiving its own piece later today and move straight onto a monster: Grand Theft Auto IV. While the game itself (which is still too in development to be shown) will debut on all formats in October 2007, Rockstar and Take-Two have announced they will provide Xbox 360 owners with exclusive access to two ‘epic’ downloadable episodes within months of GTA IV hitting the shelves.
Peter Moore, Corp VP of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business, told us he asked Rockstar and Take-Two to ‘throw him a bone’ regarding anything he could show of the title but was ‘told where he could stick that bone’, so we’ll have to wait for further details.
Another predictable Xbox 360 only monolith is the impending Project Gotham Racing 4. Sadly all we got to see of the title was some pre-rendered footage which doesn’t provide any kind of insight.
If you like football then the Xbox 360 is a shoe-in over the next twelve months since Microsoft has remarkably negotiated exclusive access for the console and PC to both FIFA 07 and Pro Evo 6. Both were playable at the show and after delivering a ‘Hursty Hat-trick’ of defeats to three German colleagues I can report that the two titles are real crowd pleasers. Pro Evo still has the edge in my opinion, but FIFA is closing the gap.
