Health and fitness tech specialist Withings has expanded its range of performance and wellbeing gadgets with the Withings Smart Activity Tracker officially unveiled at CES 2013.
A direct rival to the likes of the FitBit Zip, the newly announced Withings Smart Activity Tracker is a compact personal fitness tracker, with the easily pocketable offering users a variety of performance based data metrics as well as playing host to a pulse monitoring party piece.
“Understanding how to analyse your fitness is the first step to improving it,” Withings CEO and co-founder, Cedric Hutchings said. “The amount of technology that we’ve packed into this tiny sized and easy to use new-generation personal trainer will take us further into a new dimension of connected health and well-being where device, user and services are closely and permanently linked.”
Withings Smart Activity Tracker Specs
Lining up at a mere 8.3mm thick and just 43.3mm in length, the Withings Smart Activity Tracker builds on the usual collection of performance monitoring capabilities, with steps taken, strides run, total distance covered and calories burned built on by a quality of sleep tracker and a more indepth pulse measurement recorder.
Built into the rear of the rounded-edged plastic design, the Withings Smart Activity Tracker’s pulse measurement recorder resembles a finger print scanner on a laptop, instead recording your pulse for a more well-rounded personal health evaluation.
An unobtrusive addition to your life, the Withings Smart Activity Tracker, which has been designed to slot within your pocket, or on a range of body worn belt clip or arm band, relays data via a streamlined OLED display with users able to navigate through metrics readings via either the device’s single physical button, or discrete touch panel beneath the screen.
Touted as boasting a two week battery life, rechargeable via the integrated microUSB port, the Withings Smart Activity Tracker can be connected via Bluetooth to a dedicated iPhone, iPad and Android app, offering users a more comprehensive breakdown of their daily activities.
