The next version of the Windows OS, which is being dubbed Windows Blue, has been leaked onto the internet, revealing a bunch of new features.
Windows Blue (or at least an early version of it) appeared on file sharing sites over the weekend, and screenshots outlining some of the new features have cropped up on Winforums.
The most notable of the new features in Microsoft’s Windows 8 follow-up is resizable Live Tiles. Like Windows Phone 8, you can now opt for a smaller Live Tile representation on the Start screen.
Also similar to Windows Phone 8 is the ability to access the apps menu from the Start screen with a simple swipe – this time by swiping from the bottom of the screen up.
Windows Blue Snap View and Other Additions
This leaked version of Windows Blue also contains new Snap View modes that permit you to run apps simultaneously on the same screen. There’s a new side-by-side view that mirrors the equivalent desktop version, and there’s also support for running up to four apps together at the same time.
You can also run these multiple apps across different monitors, if you’re particularly well equipped on the screen front.
Other additions include improvements to Charms. There’s a new Play option in the Devices Charm. The Share Charm, meanwhile, contains a new screenshot option.
Windows Blue will also contain the next version of Internet Explorer, IE11. This appears to include the ability to sync tabs across multiple Windows devices.
