Windows 10 upgrade notifications somehow just got even more obnoxious

Just when you thought Microsoft couldn’t get any more irritatingly pushy with its Windows 10 upgrade system, it has.
Microsoft has received considerable stick in recent months for its use of sneaky tricks to get people to upgrade from Windows 7 and Windows 8.1. By upgrading Windows 10 to a “Recommended” update, it meant that users had to manually change the schedule or cancel it, or else face an automatic installation.
Amazingly, Microsoft has just managed to make Windows 10 upgrade notifications even more obnoxious.
With the free Windows 10 upgrade offer set to expire on July 29, Microsoft is implementing full screen notifications in a bid to push those upgrades through. The following screen will appear for a subset of users:
Microsoft seems eager to cover itself against more claims of pushiness for this latest stunt, with a support page outlining the new last-ditch notifications. As you can see, there’s an option to dismiss this notification permanently.

The software giant is also limiting the number of customers who will receive this invasive reminder. Those who have the latest version of the Get Windows 10 app or who have elected to hide it; those who have uninstalled Windows 10 or whose Windows 10 installation has failed; and those who have disabled the Windows 10 upgrade won’t see this screen.
Unfortunately for the rest, you’ll be receiving a big full-screen notification. Still, at least Microsoft’s ‘sorry,’ eh?
