Windows 10 to be free upgrade for first year
Microsoft has confirmed that Windows 10 will be offered as a free upgrade for the first year of its release.
In order to help boost adoption of Windows 10 in the first year of its release, Microsoft has confirmed that it will be offered for free.
That’s to anyone currently running Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and even Windows Phone 8.1 too.
Microsoft also revealed that this free upgrade doesn’t just extend to the full version of Windows 10.
Like with Mac OS X, Windows 10 will bring tweaks and new features to its users via free software updates.
“With Windows 10, we think of Windows as a service,” explained Terry Myerson, Executive VP of Operating Systems at Microsoft. “You could comfortably think of Windows 10 as the world’s largest internet service.”
There’s no mention of when Windows 10, with its focus on offering a seamless Windows transition for users regardless of their device, will be released to consumers.
All we know so far is that Windows 10 will be released sometime this year.
