Windows 10 will be offered for free, assuming you have a legitimate copy of a preceding OS that is.
For those of you out there running a hooky copy of Windows 7 or Windows 8 – you know who you are – Microsoft has now announced its Windows 10 prices.
According to CNET, those looking to snap up a legit copy of Windows 10 Home will be forced to splash out $119 (£77), while those after Windows 10 Pro will need to fork over $199 (£129).
What’s more, if you originally plump for Home before deciding you want the full Win 10 Pro experience, an upgrade patch between the two packages will cost $99 (£64).
These prices are the same as the current upgrade costs associated with Windows 8.
Earlier this week Microsoft put the rumour mongers to rest, confirming that
The free upgrades be issued on a like-for-like basis for existing customers. So, if you’re currently a Windows 7 Home user, expect a complimentary copy of Windows 10 Home, not Pro.

Although Microsoft has now confirmed the Windows 10 release date, this currently only relates to the laptop and tablet iterations of the software.
These is, as yet, no formal word on when the company’s mobile platform will be given the Windows 10 upgrade treatment.
