Which is the best camcorder of 2011?

Unlike other categories in the TrustedReviews Awards powered by Duracell, camcorders cover a wide range of products within its field. From high-end broadcast quality cameras to the humble internet camcorder, pocket camcorder, consumers are spoiled for choice when it comes to capturing video.

Reflecting this in the awards was no small task, and the TrustedReviews staff considered a number of criteria based not just on quality but also versatility and of course value.

The JVC Everio GS-TD1 is priced at around £1,400, but for your money you’ll get Full HD in 3D from the parallel lenses and not one but two 1/4.1in back-illuminated CMOS sensors, each with 3.32Mpixels a large touchscreen, and decent low-light performance. Although it’s expensive, value is all relative and we feel that’s a lot of performance for your pounds.

At the opposite of the scale is the Panasonic HM-TA20, a drop-proof, water resistant pocket camcorder that takes the stage left empty by Flip and turns everything up to 11. For a little over £100 you get full HD shooting, a modest digital zoom, great build quality and a 1/4.1in CMOS sensor.

In between you can choose from the Panasonic HDC-SD90, which offers 3D compatability and versatility, or the JVC Everio GZ-HM445REK which for under £200 is exceptional value, or a brace of other cameras for you to pick from in our list of nomiees.

The TrustedReviews Awards judges will have a hard job picking the winners and their decision will be led by you, the reader as to which are product is deserving of the covereted title of TrustedReviews Best Camcorder of the Year 2011.

Voting closes on 18 November, so get those votes in and leave a comment to have your say.
