Nintendo Classic Mini: Where to buy the retro NES console in the UK

The Nintendo Classic Mini could be one of the most popular Christmas gifts of 2016, packaging together 30 iconic retro games for a single price. We’ve rounded up the best deals from around the web below.

The Classic Mini is designed to look just like the original 8-bit NES and will come pre-loaded with 30 retro games, including Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong and PAC-MAN.

The Nintendo Classic Mini will cost £50 RRP, while extra controllers will be available for £7.99. Be warned though, the controller cables are a tad short.

Here’s a sneak peek of our review:

“The NES Mini could so easily have been perfect, and it absolutely should have been. An adorable little box that includes the original Mario trilogy, Mega Man 2, Pac-Man and other greats, all looking absolutely stellar for just £50. The controller, too, feels as superb as the original.”

“So it’s inexplicable that the console is pretty much impossible to be set up on a TV, as a result of a short controller cable that uses a bespoke plug and a power cable that’s equally short, and which doesn’t come with its own power adapter.”

For the time being, it may be worth checking out second-hand retailers and online stores if you’re desperate for a NES Mini.

Nintendo is also selling the system direct via its website and there are some pretty tasty deals on offer over there – an extra £10, for instance, will get your a bundle including a console and a Nintendo Classic Controller messenger bag (RRP £22.99).

The console itself started shipping on November 11, so now’s the perfect time to grab one before they’re all gone. We’ll update this article with all the latest news from the retailers as it becomes available, including more sweet deals we find them.
