When does the iPhone 7 come out? What you need to know

When does the iPhone 7 come out? Some leaks point to a later than expected release date of September, following the handset’s speculative September 7 launch event, but that’s hardly the only rumour – even Barbara Streisand is joining the gossip party! Here’s all you need to know.
Apple is virtually guaranteed to announce its new flagship phone in early September, with early speculation from reliable mobile phone leaker Evan Blass aka @evleaks pointing to the device being unveiled on September 7 ahead of a September 16 on sale date, with pre-orders commencing on September 9.

Most recently, Blass has added that he’s “very confident” in these dates:

However, a conflicting report from 9to5Mac based on an alleged leaked retail memo from US carrier AT&T suggests that the consumer release may take place later than that, with stores being advised of additional staffing requirements on September 9 and September 23.
The former date aligns neatly with the presumed pre-order date, but a September 23 on sale date would be more than three weeks after the rumoured September 7 iPhone event, which doesn’t fit with Apple’s previous launch habits.
In the the past, Apple has released the iPhone approximately 10 days after first unveiling it, which would mean a reveal on or around Tuesday September 13. That sounds entirely plausible to us.
At this late stage, it seems like everyone wants to have their say on the iPhone 7 and iOS 10, its accompanying software release. Even Canadian songstress Barbara Streisand is getting in on the action, adding further intrigue to the autumn Apple launch caper by telling NPR recently that Tim Cook had personally told her Siri would start pronouncing her name correctly “with the next update on September 30”.
Make of that what you will.

While still shrouded in mystery, the iPhone 7 is widely expected to feature a dual-camera configuration and may drop the 3.5mm headphone jack. Other rumours suggest the introduction of a new ‘Space Black’ flavour and the new handset coming bundled with wireless Beats earphones.
One thing that’s more or less certain is that the iPhone 7 won’t be a radically redesigned phone like the iPhone 6/6S. Instead, we’re expecting to see Apple reinvent the wheel in 2017 with the iPhone 8.
