What deals do we expect from the Steam Summer Sale?

The Steam Summer Sale is just a few hours away, making this the perfect time to put down our expectations for the best upcoming deals.

What’s the point of going outdoors when you could just stay at home enjoying the latest games at a discounted price? That’s exactly the philosophy we’re adopting as we dive into the Steam Summer Sale which, if all the rumours are true, should begin later today, Thursday June 23 and run until July 7.

As with any Steam sale, there will no doubt be an endless flurry of discounts and offers which is why we’re making a few pointers now as to which game you should definitely check out if they’re reduced. If you can’t wait until the sale begins then we’ve also rounded up a few stellar deals that are taking place right now on the Steam store.

What deals do we expect?

This one might be a bit pie in the sky given that the game just came out, but with its popularity amongst Twitch streamers only increasing, we’d love to see a discount for Supermassive Games’ The Quarry.

For something a bit more tangible, a sizeable discount for Resident Evil Village feels like more of an inevitability. After all, Capcom recently announced a bevy of DLC headed for the game including a third-person mode and several updates to mercenaries mode, so it would make sense to try and get more people on board with the game before that content is made available.

Neon White is also taking the indie world by storm right now thanks to its unique art-style and speedrunning based gameplay. We’d be surprised if publisher Annapurna didn’t take advantage of the Steam sale with a cheeky price drop to ride that popularity even further.

Early deals now live

For anyone who simply has to have a deal right now (and hey, no judgement here), you’ll be glad to know that there’s already a few stonkers available on the Steam store ahead of the big sale. The most prolific deal right now is for the PC port of God of War, which has brought the price down to just £31.99. Even though the game is a few years old now, it’s still one of the best action-adventure games to date and well worth checking out if you haven’t done so already.

If you fancy a game that’s not too dissimilar to God of War but available at a significantly reduced price then you should definitely check out A Plague Tale: Innocence. This narrative driven adventure sees a Amicia and her little brother navigate the war-torn and rat infested landscape of 14^th century France, after their home is attacked by invading British soldiers. The game is now available for the incredibly low price of just £6.99.

Maybe the idea of a slow burning story doesn’t appeal to you and in that case, we can easily recommend Dying Light 2. The game has been reduced to £36.66 from £54.99, and its fast-paced zombie-smashing gameplay is sure to keep you gripped for hours, particularly as its open-world contains a massive amount of secrets just waiting to be found.
