Amazon Pantry: New grocery service takes aim at UK supermarkets

Look out, supermarkets – Amazon is taking aim at UK grocery retailers with the launch of a new delivery service.
The ecommerce giant has today announced the arrival of Amazon Pantry, a brand new “everyday essentials” shopping service.
Amazon is offering over 4,000 items through Amazon Pantry, including food, drink, household supplies, baby and child-care, pet, health, and beauty products.
Goods are offered in “boxes”, which can carry up to 20kg. You can check how much space you have left as you shop in real-time.
The first box costs £2.99, and each new box that you fill will cost £0.99 extra.
Do note: you’ll need an Amazon Prime subscription – that’s £79 per year – to use Amazon Pantry.

Parthenay continues: “We’re always looking to innovate on behalf of our customers and find ways to save them time and money. We think they will love the broad selection, quick delivery, and low prices of Amazon Pantry.”
Amazon is also offering curated lists that will help you find what you need for specific occasions, e.g. parties, a new baby, a weekend away, or a night in.
