Wetherspoons bars itself from Facebook, Instagram and Twitter
Spoons has had it up to *here* with those troublesome social media firms, and barred itself from Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
The widely-loved but also widely-hated pub chain has had its fill of likes and pages and trolls and whatnot, and got rid of its social media accounts.
“In a world of social media, J D Wetherspoon has decided to close down all Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media accounts for individual pubs and head office,” its now-defunct main Twitter account told followers − the social media-obsessed mugs − this morning.

According to Tim Martin, the chairman of J D Wetherspoon, there were several reasons behind the move.
He told the BBC that the company felt that social media was distracting pub managers from actually serving customers, and that social media platforms might not be as vital to modern business as they previously thought.
“It’s becoming increasingly obvious that people spend too much time on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, and struggle to control the compulsion,” Martin added, tapping into the anti-Facebook movement.
“I find most people I know waste their time on it. A lot of them say they know they waste their time on it, but they struggle to get off it.”
