We all want to play this Unreal Engine 4 remake of Castlevania

Dedicated and talented fans have begun to remake yet another Nintendo classic in the impressive Unreal Engine 4.

We’ve seen people reimagine portions of GoldenEye, Pokemon and even The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in the past, and now fans are moving onto Konami’s gothic masterpiece: Castlevania.

Dejawolfs has spent the past four months working on the demo below, which recreates the opening stages of the 1986 original.

Animated in a gorgeous 2.5D style, the remake recreates the spooky atmosphere and oppressive lighting fans adore from the classic adventure.

Konami hasn’t released a new entry in the Castlevania franchise since Lords of Shadow 2 in 2014, which received a less than lukewarm reception from critics and fans.

Publishers are renown for shutting down ambitious and lovingly crafted projects like this, with Nintendo slamming the ban hammer down on a number of hobbyist remakes.

If the same fate falls on this, at least fans have Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night to look forward to.
