Watch: Tesla Roadster ‘Plaid’ mode filmed doing 0-60mph in 1.9 seconds
You can now watch the new Tesla Roadster race from standstill to 60mph in under two seconds – and it’s incredible.
Earlier this week, Tesla unveiled the Roadster 2 in a surprise debut during its Semi Truck announcement event. The car comes with bold promises from Tesla boss Elon Musk, who says it’ll trump world records for 0-60mph, 0-100mph and top speed by a production car. Naturally, we’re very interested.

Fortunately, you can now catch an early glimpse of what the car will offer thanks to YouTube channel DragTimes. The channel regularly posts videos of Tesla vehicles racing – and often winning – against supercars over a quarter-mile race, with one popular clip showcasing a Tesla SUV pipping a Lamborghini Aventador on the track.
During a Tesla event, DragTimes placed a $5,000 deposit on the car, earning a test ride that saw the vehicle hit 60mph from a hard stop in just 1.9 seconds.

The Tesla Roadster is set to debut on actual roads in 2020, and promises a quarter-mile time of below eight seconds – with a top speed mooted to be in the range of 250mph.
Of course, we should expect some quality benchmarks given the hefty $200,000 price tag.
