Watch the first trailer for Disney’s awesome Star Wars VR experience
Tickets are now on sale for the hugely-immersive Star Wars VR experience, coming soon to Disney locations in California and Florida.
To celebrate, Disney has released the first trailer for the room-wide, walk-around ’Secrets of the Empire’ experience, along with details of the story.
Judging by the clip, a team of four players will go undercover as Imperial Stormtroopers on an a hunt for imperial intelligence.
The so-called “hyper-reality experience” is a collaboration between Lucasfilm, ILMxLAB and VR start-up The Void.

Players will carry the computing power around on their backs and the VR world is mapped to items in the physical room, adding extra realism to the experience.
Outside the parks
The experience isn’t coming to the Disney parks where Star Wars Land is opening in 2019.
It’ll be available at Disney Springs in Orlando from December 19 (just four days after Episode VIII hits cinemas) and at Downtown Disney in Anaheim on January 5th.
One advantage of it being outside the main parks is that you won’t have to pay for an expensive park ticket to get in.
Tickets cost $30 per person and the experience lasts for half an hour. You can buy them now (via TechCrunch).
We’re intrigued to give this a try. One of the greatest positives of a conglomerate like Disney buying Star Wars was the scope for this kind of stuff to become a (virtual) reality.
