Pushes the boundaries of the word "extreme"...
Some things naturally go together: bread and butter, strawberries and cream, England and valiant sporting defeats, mixing of drinks and vomiting and here is another: Core 2 Duo and VoodooPC.
The high end performance specialist and maker of the obscene quad SLI desktop has just announced the OMEN i:121 Extreme. This beautifully styled powerhouse crams in a user definable edition of Intel’s supreme Core 2 Duo CPU and offers it in conjunction with either an nVidia SLI enabled motherboard and pair of half gig GeForce 7900GTXs or an ATI CrossFire equipped moby that straps on a couple of equally weighted Radeon X1900s. (Yes, it’s hardcore!)
Furthermore, the new Omens are reportedly near silent in operation thanks to a system wide intercooler that quietly chills the entire machine, copper cooled video cards and ”an advanced chamber airflow layout that allows the system to operate at peak efficiency without draining excess power”. A water cooled option is also available and, naturally enough, the i:121 is fully upgradeable and includes a modular swappable power supply.
So impressive are the company’s efforts that Jeff McCrea, VP of Intel’s Sales and Marketing Group, has come forward to praise the desktop. “VoodooPC’s OMEN.i:121 Extreme, featuring this latest desktop processor innovation, will wow gamers and media enthusiasts alike,” he crowed. While Rahul Sood, President and CTO of this crazy builder playfully added, “Let’s just say we weren’t expecting such shock and awe from Intel. The Intel Core 2 Duo and Core 2 Extreme processors are amazing!”
The user configurable Core 2 Duo Omens are available now from the VoodooPC website with prices starting from a $4,400 for an SLI based beast and $6,000 for a CrossFire thoroughbred. You know you want one. After all, which is more important: an Omen 1:121 Extreme or food? Think long and hard…
