Vomo is a fast and light electric scooter

We’re not sure when everyone decided scooters were the best way to get around, but they sure are popular. Vomo looks great, and has a top speed of 20mph too.

It has a 350-watt hub motor that makes it nice and nippy. It’s powerful enough to get you up a hill, which is handy, as that must be the worst bit of riding a scooter.

It folds up nice and small too – it measures 29x89x16cm when folded. You can wheel it around with one hand like a wheelie case. It’s also light enough to carry one-handed.

It promises a smooth ride, thanks to its 8×2-inch tubeless inflatable tires.

There’s even a digital display on the handlebars. The LCD shows which of the five power assist levels you’re using, an odometer to show how far you’ve travelled both in total and during this trip, an RPM reading, voltage reading, speed in kph or mph, and the battery level, so you’ll never run out of juice.

It comes with either an 8.8-amp or 11.6-amp battery. The makers claim it will give you a range of over 20 miles on a single charge, though they don’t specify which battery that’s with. Still, should be enough to get you to work and back.

It won’t accelerate from standing still, so you won’t accidentally speed off into a crowd of people. And as soon as you apply the brake, the motor cuts off.

It’s passed its funding goal and should ship in September. You can pick one up for $349 (£224).
