Vodafone signs 100k 4G customers in under two months

Vodafone has announced it already has 100,000 customers signed up to its 4G network, just seven weeks after launch.

With the Vodafone 4G network now available in London, Birmingham, Coventry, Leicester, Nottingham and Sheffield, the UK network provider has already attracted over 100,000 customers.

It’s only been seven weeks since Vodafone launched its 4G network, but that hasn’t stopped the company from signing up a large amount of customers.

The adoption rate for Vodafone’s 4G network works out at around 15,000 customers per week, meaning it is already matching EE, which launched its 4G network at the end of 2012.

“We’re giving people a reason to get excited about ultrafast 4G and more than 100,000 have already joined in”, said Guy Laurence, Chief Executive of Vodafone UK. “We’ve been switching on a new site in the London area every half an hour and now people in more than 80 towns and districts can enjoy Vodafone ultrafast 4G.”

EE recently announced that its 4G customers had topped 1 million in the 10 months since launch, reaching the milestone four months ahead of its initial schedule.

Vodafone has most likely reached such a high number of users at an early stage due to the heightened consumer awareness of 4G through EE’s marketing.

Claiming its 4G network is six times faster than 3G, Vodafone is promising that its 4G coverage will extend to 98 per cent of indoor UK premises by 2015.

Vodafone Red 4G plans start at £26 per month and for a limited time offer 6GB of data on top of the usual unlimited minutes and texts bundle. The UK network provider is also offering a six month free Spotify Premium or Sky Sports Mobile TV subscription with its Red 4G tariffs.
