Vodafone has just jumped on the Wi-Fi calling bandwagon, finally.
The company has announced its own Wi-Fi calling service, bringing Vodafone in line with rivals EE, O2, and Three.
The service, which lets customers make phone calls over Wi-Fi, will roll out to users over the next few weeks.
Anyone on a Vodafone Red, Red Value, or Red+ plan is eligible, assuming they have a compatible device.
It’s also a serious boon to Londoners, who can now utilise the Wi-Fi on the tube network to make calls underground.
That’s especially useful for Vodafone customers, who already have free access to London Underground Wi-Fi anyway.
“We are always looking to find new ways to make your calls better and now we’re using the internet to expand your smartphone horizons,” reads a Vodafone blog post.
It continues: “[Wi-Fi calling is] set to unlock a whole new world of more calls in more places for everyone.”

If you want to use Vodafone’s Wi-Fi calling, you won’t have to pay anything extra.
What’s more, you don’t need to download an extra app to make the service work. Just go into your settings and flick the ‘Wi-Fi Calling’ switch.
Wi-Fi calling is integrated into compatible devices – Vodafone has promised a full list of eligible handsets in due course.
