Vodafone’s new budget tablet lands with 4G and Lollipop

Vodafone has announced a new tablet that looks set to bank on the growing demand for 4G connections.

Dubbed the Tab prime 6, the carrier’s new slate boasts a 1280 x 800 IPS screen that measures 9.6-inches corner-to-corner. It also runs off Android 5.0 Lollipop, and packs a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor inside. Perhaps most important, however, is that it offers 4G/LTE support, which makes it useful for anyone keen to buy a tablet for on-the-move browsing.
Inside the device is 16GB of storage, and a 4,600mAh battery that’s purportedly good for 37 days on standby.Snapping potential comes courtesy of a 5-megapixel rear-facing camera, as well as a 2-megapixel selfie-shooter.

You can buy the super-saver tablet from £17 per month with an upfront cost of £19, which gets you 1GB of data.

There’s also the option to pick up the device on pay-as-you-go, albeit at a slightly more painful £150 price. That still offers decent value for a 4G tablet however, although we’ll need to wait for a review unit before casting a final verdict. It’s worth noting that Vodafone also has a Tab prime 6 Keyboard Edition in the works for launch later this month. That means it’ll be easy to use the tablet as a work device thanks to the bundled keyboard, although this model will cost an unspecified amount more.
Don’t forget that Vodafone currently offers 4G connectivity in 491 cities, so make sure your hometown qualifies for the super-fast connection before shelling out on an LTE-friendly tablet.
