Vodafone Extends Mobile Broadband Network

3m people set to benefit.

Vodafone tends to be known as the network which charges a premium in return for excellent network coverage and it’s looking to once again prove it is worth the money this summer.

Today the monster telco has announced it will begin a multi-million pound investment to extend its 7.2Mbit mobile broadband network to a further three million people across Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow, Liverpool, Manchester and Reading. Formal rollout is expected to be completed by the Autumn and will mean these conurbations have caught up with London and the country’s major airports which were first in line.

“The recent acceleration in the take up of mobile broadband has demonstrated just how hungry consumers are for internet access wherever they are,” said Nick Read, CEO of Vodafone UK. “As a result we are significantly investing in our network so that more customers can experience our award winning, fast and reliable mobile broadband network.”

Interestingly, Vodafone also casually mentions that it will “simplify the way it sells mobile broadband services to customers” but doesn’t expand upon that other than roping back Nick Read to say “From June we will focus on providing additional relevant information with details on everyday usage scenarios, which will ensure customers can continue to make the most of Vodafone’s high speed mobile broadband service.”
