Dave and rest of UKTV lineup to return to Virgin TV in “the next few days”

Virgin TV and UKTV have reached an agreement that will see the latter’s channels, which include Dave and Gold, return to the former’s lineup after being absent for almost a month.

UKTV’s lineup, which includes 23 channels in total, disappeared from Virgin TV at the end of July after the two companies failed to reach an agreement over fees.

It seemed that the problem was that UKTV’s channels broadcast a lot of the BBC’s historical content by virtue of being co-owned by the organisation.

However, it usually licensed its streaming content separately to organisations such as Netflix, meaning that UKTV couldn’t offer Virgin TV the right to stream these shows on-demand.

However, the deal that’s now been reached will include five times the amount of on-demand content. It will also see Dave HD and Gold HD made available on Virgin Media’s Mix Bundle and above.

The channels will be returning starting immediately, but it might take a couple of days for them to roll out across the whole country.

Here’s the complete list of UKTV’s channels:

  • W
  • Dave
  • Gold
  • Alibi
  • Drama
  • Yesterday
  • Eden
  • Really
  • Good Food
  • Home

When the channel disappeared from Virgin TV, many users claimed that they’d cancel their subscriptions.

It’s unclear how many of those ended up following through, but hopefully there won’t be too many people who cancelled.. and will shortly find themselves waiting on an installation engineer in a couple of weeks’ time.
