Viewsonic has upgraded the panel in the venerable VP171 to one that sports an eight millisecond response time.
In a unusual move, ViewSonic has taken a leaf out of the music industry’s book and ‘re-released’ an old classic. The big sell for the 17in VP171 LCD monitor is that it has been updated with a panel that boasts an ultra-fast response time of a mere eight milliseconds.
Initially launched a little under two years ago with a response time of 16ms, this model is one of the company’s most highly-awarded by IT publications. The new 8ms panel, the VP171 is ideal for fast-paced games and action films, enabling viewing without distortion or ghosting effects. ViewSonic is one of the first players in the industry to have a product available on the market with such fast reaction times. The panel sports a contrast ratio of 500:1 and brightness of 300 nits for comfortable viewing in a wide range of ambient conditions.
Viewsonic has also placed particular emphasis on ergonomics. The VP171 can be adjusted in height by up to 11cm, tilted vertically by 30 degrees and swivelled up to 90 degrees on its horizontal axis. Moreover, the whole screen can be rotated by 90 degrees, thereby enabling portrait image views – a boon for displaying and working on larger documents without needing to scroll. The PC and Mac compatible VP171 is equipped with an integrated power supply as well as one digital and two analogue inputs.
“ViewSonic is always eager to offer its customers the latest technology at the earliest opportunity. With the eight millisecond VP171, we demonstrate our commitment to this pledge,” comments Keith Talbott, Sales Director – UK & Ireland.
The recommended retail price of the VP171 is £279 including VAT and is available in either black or silver-black. It will be available from specialist dealers and e-tailers from Mid January 2005. The model comes with a three year warranty with on site exchange service.
