ViewSonic Launches ViewPad 10e Tablet

ViewSonic has announced its latest tablet, the ViewPad 10e,
aiming it at “value conscious” customers but it has failed to release the pricing
for the tablet which goes on sale at the beginning of next month.

The ViewPad 10e’s main selling point is its 9.7in IPS display
though with a thickness of just 9.1mm, it should look rather attractive as well.
And weighing just 620g it shouldn’t be too much of a burden to carry around.

It will come with a 1GHz Cortex A8 processor and 4GB of
internal storage expandable to 32GB via SD card and 512MB of
DDR3 RAM – all of which are decent if not amazing specs and tie-in with the budget pricing ViewSonic are hinting at.

As well as the SD card slot, there is a minHDMI port, which
will allow you to output 720p videos to a larger screen, a micro USB port, as well as Wi-Fi b/g/n and
Bluetooth 3.0 as you would expect.

The ViewPad 10e will run Android 2.3, which is really a
smartphone version of Android and we would have liked to have seen either
Honeycomb, or ideally Ice Cream Sandwich. ViewSonic has customised the Android
interface to create a 3D-style UI called ViewScene 3D.

The ViewPad 10e is the same size as the iPad and has the same screen technology but we hope that it won’t be as
expensive as Apple’s market leading tablet.
