Printers may never quite summon the gadget lust of a new TV, phone or tablet, but picking the right one is important. There are many main questions to ask yourself before buying one, too.
First, how much do you want to spend? Do you care about colour? For a cheap-ish colour solution, you’re definitely looking at an inkjet. Laser printers are available for peanuts, but colour ones aren’t.
Also, do you care about the extras? Wi-Fi is an extremely useful addition, but is generally left out of most bottom-rung printers you’ll find on the high street. Many cheap printers are all-in-one devices, which means they pack-in a scanner unit too, but consider whether you’d be better off looking for a printer-only device – print quality and speed may matter more.
