Vi is an artificial intelligence personal trainer in your ears

A personal trainer makes it harder to slack off and avoid your workouts, but how many of us actually have the time and money to use one? Well here’s one you can wear.
Vi looks just like a pair of headphones, but it contains a personal trainer that uses artificial intelligence. That means it can learn about you and your routine, and help gee you on when you need a bit of inspiration.
For example, it can tell you the weather forecast, and help adjust your training so you work out indoors when it’s raining, for example. While you’re running you can ask it for your heart rate, or a progress update, and it’ll tell you how you’re getting on. It’ll even tell you to speed up to stay on pace, or slow down if you’re overdoing it and risking an injury.
It can check in with you between workouts to see how you’re doing, too. You might even forget you’re talking to a machine.

Admittedly it’s a bit more bulky than a normal pair of headphones. But the neckband houses all the AI knowhow. Plus it works as a standard pair of headphones, with audio tech by Harmon Kardon.
It’s passed its funding goal and still has 43 days to go. Pledge $199 (£137) and it can be yours on an early bird. It’ll ship in December, when we all need motivation for getting out of the nice warm house and going running.
