Valve releases Steam Machine promo video
Valve has released a new promotional video for the upcoming Steam Machines that are expected to launch en mass later this year.
The new Steam Machine promo vid showcases the SteamOS, the Steam Controller and some in-game footage running on Valve’s prototype Steam Machine.
Starting with some footage of an early SteamOS build in action, the video navigates the dashboard with speed and agility and reveals some of the titles that will be available on the Linux-based consoles.
Some trailers and screenshots of the currently available titles are also given some air time in the vid.
Next, we see some picture-in-picture footage of a gamers playing Portal with the Steam Controller, giving us a brief glimpse of how the controller functions.
There’s a brief glimpse of the achievements panel, access to specific game forums, game news and how to see which of your friends are playing each specific game.
Despite the promo video being over 8 minutes long, it doesn’t provide us with much information about the upcoming Steam Machines or SteamOS. Especially as the promo vid has no dialogue whatsoever.
AT CES 2014, Valve revealed 13 Steam Machine partners including the like of Alienware. Currently, we’ve seen units ranging in price from $499 (£304) to $6,000 (£3655) with widely varying specs.
